Also, after you have the PS/AC belt on, you will want to pull the pump up and forward to reduce the slack, this will make it easier and quicker to adjust the tensioner bolts.ġ7. I don't have a how to, but I could probably make up one quickly.ġ. Taking off the cruise control bolts, I think there are 3 of them, and putting it out of the way might help with the Alt bolts. It still is not hard, but I am pretty sure it can only be done from under the car. It is pretty easy, the hardest part, IIRC, is breaking loose the alternator. Sure would be nice if Mazda just allowed people to view the same schematics online that they have at the dealerships.I have done the Alt belt and PS/AC belt at least 3 times on my P5 and once on a friend's MSP. just not sure where to go looking for said diagrams! I know what the parts look like, having seen pictures of what is supposed to be there, so I should be able to identify them via a diagram. Maybe it wouldn't be too spendy ordering straight from the dealer. suppose I'll ask for a diagram of the Protege's parts at the same time. I have to visit the dealer anyway to get some bolts for my car. He's a week and a half backlogged on cars as it is, despite working well into the night most evenings! Popular guy I guess. head to a junk yard with the diagram in hand. Get your mechanic to circle all the items he needs and price new at the dealer.
